Who already uses Aquapac?
Aquapac is used and valued by individuals out boating, fishing, camping and
more. They are relied on by worldwide professional users too: lifeboats,
mountain rescue teams, fire brigades, coastguards, oil rigs, airports and
building sites.
Do any companies use them?
Big name Aquapac customers include Canon, France Telecom, Deutsche Telekom,
ICOM, Kodak, Motorola, Nokia, NTT DoCoMo, Qualcomm and Yamaha. Officials at the
Nagano Winter Olympics used Aquapac VHF radio cases to keep communications open
on the slopes. The radio cases are NATO-approved and used by the military forces
of several nations.
What's an Aquapac?
Aquapac is a unique innovation. Cases which keep electronic equipment and other
valuables safe and fully-operational in all weathers, and the most extreme
conditions. They’re not just splashproof but completely waterproof. (see bottom
of page for the statistical stuff)
What's that plastic bit on the end?
The Aquaclip, which creates a hermetic, totally airtight seal. That means if you
drop your camera off the side of the boat, or get pushed in the pool with your
cellphone, it’ll float. It also means you get protection against mud, sand,
snow, dust, dirt, oil or paint. So if you work in a dirty environment, you might
even want to use your Aquapac indoors. For more information on the Aquaclip,
please click on the link "Aquaclip Technology" on the nav bar to your left.
Can't I just use a plastic bag?
What makes Aquapacs really special is that they're completely functional.
Electronic equipment inside the case keeps working quite normally. You don’t
have to take it out to use it. Which makes Aquapac a genuinely useful product.
Also, a plastic bag is not going to be waterproof to 5m or deeper.
What are they made of?
The soft bit is a special formula polymer, uniquely manufactured for Aquapac in
Europe. The hard bits are a mixture of injection moulded materials including
Nylon, ABS and Polypropylene.
What about the camera lenses?
Photos can be taken through the camera cases, which incorporate a
photographically clear lens made of a special polymer (Vybak).
What accessories are there?
All the cases come supplied with either shoulder strap or carrycord, and some
with Aquapac’s unique all-plastic, rustproof belt clip. Many have a layer of
foam in the back for added comfort and protection.
What guarantee do Aquapacs have?
The Aquaclip comes with a Lifetime Guarantee. The cases carry a standard 12
month guarantee against defects in materials or manufacture. Contents are not
guaranteed against accidental damage - this should be covered by insurance.
How durable are they?
Obviously, you need to look after them, the material could be punctured by a
sharp object. But it's far tougher than it looks. Aquapacs are recommended as a
‘Best Buy’ by Sailing Today magazine: "We can vouch for the toughness…as much as
the case was pulled, stretched and twisted, the material did not break or tear,
and it really took some abuse".
What kind of quality are they?
Practical Photography magazine describes the camera cases as "The ideal way of
protecting your compact on holiday…A small price to pay for protection". And
from Yachting Monthly magazine: "We at YM are completely enamoured of Aquapac’s
waterproof mobile phone and VHF cases which work brilliantly."
Are you sure they're Waterproof?
British Standards Institution (BSi) conducted a series of independent tests to
BSEN standard 60529:1992. All the cases were 100% dust tight. They were then
tested for waterproofness after 30 minutes at various depths. The different
lengths of clip were found to offer protection from 1m (3ft) to as much as 40m
(130ft) underwater. The vast majority test watertight to 10m (33ft).
